The Upsala Blue Jays moved to 4-0 this past weekend with an 8-2 victory over the Freeport Black Sox of the Victory League South Division. Eric Lampert earned the win for Upsala, striking out 11 over 6 1/3 innings of work. John Fuchs earned the save. Mitch Reller took the loss for Freeport.
Paul Krebs, Brock Cichon, and Dustin Biniek all had multi-hit games for Upsala. Freeport had just 4 hits, as Johnny Benson and Mitch Waldvogel each were 1-3 at the plate.
The win moved Upsala to 4-0 and tied for first place in the Victory League West with Sobieski (also 4-0). The loss dropped Freeport to 0-2 in league play.
The Blue Jays are back in action this coming weekend with a pair of league games. Upsala will host St. Stephen (2-3 Victory League South) on Saturday at Varsity Field in Upsala. On Sunday, Upsala will travel to Flensburg to play the Flensburg Falcons (0-4 Victory League West). Both games are slated for 1:30 starts.
