The Upsala Blue Jays hosted the Sobieski Skis this past weekend in a huge Victory League West Division matchup. The Jays came into the contest with a 6-3 record in VL play, while the Skis came in with a 9-1 record in league play. Upsala needed a win to keep their hopes alive for a regular season division crown, but the Jays fell by a 9-3 margin to their long time West Division rival.
Adam Gerads, Eric Lampert, and Brandon Welinski all had 2 hits for Upsala. Four different pitchers worked for Upsala, with the starter John Fuchs being handed the loss.
Scott Litchy led the way for Sobieski with 3 hits. Tyler Jendro earned the win on the mound for the Skis.
Next weekend the regular season will come to a close as the Jays hit the road for a pair of games. On Friday evening, the Blue Jays will travel to Brainerd to take on the Fort Ripley Rebels of the Victory League North. The game is slated for a 7:30 first pitch at Mills Field. On Saturday, Upsala will travel to Flensburg to do battle with the Falcons. This one is slated for a 1:30 start.
