The Upsala Blue Jays split this past weekend against a dual of Victory League North Division opponents.  On Saturday, Upsala traveled to Nisswa to take on the Lightning on a beautiful night in Nisswa.  The Jays would fall by a 7-3 margin.  Brandon Welinski and Dustin Biniek each had multi-hit games for Upsala.  Jason Roepke and Jeremiah Peipkorn each had 4 hits for Nisswa.  Upsala would tie the game at 3-3 in the 5th, but Nisswa would take the lead back in the bottom of the 5th, and tack on insurance runs in the late innings.

On Sunday, the St. Mathias Devils would visit Varsity Field.  The Jays won this one 4-1 behind a stong pitching effort by Johnny Fuchs.  Upsala would manage just 2 hits in the victory, but a 3-run homer by Brock Cichon provided enough run support to earn Fuchs the win on the mound.  Adam Gerads provided the only other hit for Upsala.  5 different Devils had hits for St. Mathias.

This Sunday the Jays will be back in action with a home game at Varsity Field in Upsala.  The game time has been moved up to a noon start.
