Upsala Blue Jays

06/09/2015 - Jays Fall To Skis

The Upsala Blue Jays entered this past weekend with a 4-1 overall record, and a 3-1 record in Victory League play.  On Saturday, the Jays played host to the Swanville Swans in an exhibition game.   Upsala would win this one by a 9-2 margin.  Justin Lampert and Brock Cichon each had 3 hits for the Blue Jays in the victory.

On Sunday, Upsala would travel to West Division rival Sobieski, to battle the defending Class C state champions.  The Jays would fall to the Skis 6-1.  Upsala was only able to manage 6 hits, as Brock Cichon was the only Blue Jay with a multi-hit game.  Sobieski starter Tyler Jendro was able to keep the Jays bats in check, with 7 shutout innings.  The Blue Jays would threaten for runs in both the 8th and 9th innings, but failed to ever climb back in the game after falling behind early.  Jon Czech led the way for Sobieski with 4 hits.

Upsala will once again play a pair of games this coming weekend.  On Saturday the Jays will host Sauk Centre in exhibition action.  On Sunday, Upsala will welcome the Flensburg Falcons to Varsity Field in a West Division match-up.  Both games are slated for a 1:30 start.

Congratulations to Adam Gerads and Molly Gerads on the birth of their baby boy, Heston Robert!
