UPSALA WILL CO-HOST THE 2014 REGION 8C TOURNAMENT
The Upsala Blue Jays won a couple games again this past weekend with strong pitching. Oh, that and a great weekend by John Fuchs. John had a career day on Saturday in Royalton going 4-5 with a pair of homeruns including a grand slam and drove in 9 runs. He also got the win on the mound. With his efforts, John was named the Victory League Offensive player of the week. The Jays went on to beat the River Dogs 17-3 in 7 innings. On Sunday Upsala blanked the Pierz Brewers in 8 innings behind 7 shutout innings from Matt Swanson. Joe Bartkowicz homered in the 10-0 win that moved the Jays to 6-1 in the Victory League and 7-2 overall. This weekend the Jays will travel south to Belle Plaine for the15th annual Tigertown Classic. Upsala will take on St. Louis Park @ 12:45 on Saturday in quarterfinal action. Check out the links for more information on the weekend. The Freeport Black Sox are also in the tournament which could put Chief Wannawin on the line at some point.
