The Upsala Blue Jays traveled to St Mathias Sunday trying to get back on the winning track.  After a rain delay of just short of 2 hours, the Jays took down the Devils 12-6.  The Jays jumped out early after Brock Cichon blasted his first career home run in the second, but the Devils would tie the game at 3-3 after 5 innings.  Upsala would take the lead for good with a run in the 7th on a sacrifice fly by Matt Swanson.  The Jays would add 8 runs in the 8th to take a 12-3 lead.  St Mathias would get 3 in the 9th off of John Fuchs who relieved starter Matt Swanson in the 6th.  The Jays offense was led by Swanson and Brady Burggraff who knocked out 3 hits each well Ben Burggraff and Justin Lampert each had 2.  The Jays are now 3-3 in league play and 4-3 overall.  For box scores click on the game links.

This Memorial weekend the Blue Jays welcome a couple West Division teams to Varsity Field.  On Sunday, Randall comes to town with Freeport making their first trip to town as a Victory League team on Monday.  Both games are scheduled for 1:30 starts.

A couple other things going on, the Upsala Ballpark Association is having their annual spaghetti dinner Wednesday, May 23 at the High School.  Come out and enjoy a great meal well supporting the organization in charge of the fields that our home town teams use.  Also, UBA raffle tickets are now available.  Check with any Blue Jays player or member of UBA for tickets.  The drawing is Saturday, June 23 after the Blue Jays game vs. Royalton.
