Upsala Blue Jays

05/23/2017 - Blue Jays Move To 5-0

The Upsala Blue Jays were scheduled to play a pair of league games this past weekend.  On Saturday afternoon, the St. Stephen Steves were scheduled to visit Varsity Field in Upsala, however, Mother Nature was the only one who would win on this day, as a steady rain throughout the day led to the cancellation of this game.  A make-up date has yet to be determined.

On Sunday, Upsala was scheduled to play at Flensburg  Due to wet field conditions in Flensburg, the game was moved to Upsala.  Upsala would prevail in this one by a 12-0 final.  Eric Lampert and Brandon Welinski both homered for Upsala, while Brock Cichon and Brady Burggraff each contributed 3 hits.  Josh Genske had 2 hits for Flensburg.  The win moved Upsala to 5-0 in league play, and the loss dropped Flensburg to 0-5 in league play.  Upsala is currently tied a top the Victory League West Division with the Sobieski Skis who are also 5-0.

The Blue Jays will be back in action this coming weekend, as Upsala will play a couple of games over Memorial Weekend.  On Sunday, the Randall Cubs (2-3 Victory League West) will come to Upsala.  Then on Memorial Day, the Blue Jays will travel to St. Wendel to play the St. Wendel Saints (3-1 Victory League South).  Both games are slated for 1:30 starts.
